Blue Sky Botanics is an innovative, leading UK manufacturer of authentic, natural ingredients for the beverage, food, and cosmetics industries. We are a certified B Corp, members of UEBT, and hold Sedex SMETA and EcoVadis accreditations.

Using a wide range of botanicals, we manufacture natural extracts, distillates, fruit purees, and juices. Based on an organic farm, we have established our own purpose-built BRCGS AA accredited factories to ensure quality processes and full ingredient traceability.

Raw materials are responsibly sourced both locally and globally from an extensive network of growers and suppliers, with a particular emphasis on organic and ethically traded botanicals, including those grown on our own farm.

Blue Sky Botanics is passionate about green chemistry methods, protecting the environment, and supporting biodiversity. We work with a global network to inspire positive change and continually improve our product portfolio with skill, transparency, and integrity.

Co-founded out of a passion for authentic natural ingredients and ethical global relationships, Blue Sky Botanics has evolved from a small family farm into an esteemed BRCGS AA accredited manufacturing site. We create innovative plant extracts and purees for food, beverages, and cosmetics that embody our responsible, collaborative supply chains and green technology extraction, utilizing our established technical expertise.

In 2025 we celebrate our 20th anniversary and are proud that our products, people, and operations continue to uphold our founding values as we look ahead to a bright future.

Meet The Blue Sky Botanics Team

Our Story

Blue Sky Botanics was founded in 2005 by James & Emma Lambe, Caroline Brevitt, and James Preece (JP) to meet the growing demand for authentic botanical extracts.

James & Emma began growing and processing fresh herbs for the food industry in the 1980s on their conservation award-winning organic farm in Herefordshire—the same site where Blue Sky Botanics operates today.

James had remarkable vision and ambition. He foresaw a future where consumers would demand full transparency from field to factory, with ethical practices becoming essential across the supply chain for both food and cosmetic ingredients.

Today, his legacy of innovation continues to underpin the company’s commitment to excellence.

Emma has a passion for nature. As a farmer for over 40 years following organic principles, she dedicated herself to protecting and enhancing habitats to encourage biodiversity.

She was determined that the commercial success of Blue Sky did not come at the expense of the natural world. Castle Farm is a thriving haven for wildlife, home to an astonishing diversity of species.

Caroline has a scientific and commercial background in Environmental Biology, Plant Ecology, and Manufacturing — which fuelled her determination to do business differently.

From the start she was the driving force behind a company built on integrity. Caroline sought out ethical sources for botanicals, researched extraction science, and consistently strove to exceed customer expectations by understanding their needs and delivering tailor-made solutions.

Moreover, she was inspired by growers and cooperatives around the world—whose positive environmental and social impact fuelled her motivation to do better.

JP is the engineering powerhouse behind Blue Sky Botanics’ operational excellence. With exceptional manufacturing skills and a drive for process innovation, he continually finds solutions to even the most complex challenges. Even during periods of rapid growth & seasonal demands, James & his Team work tirelessly to ensure that every project meets its deadlines, never compromising on quality.

His ingenuity & commitment to process efficiency not only solves immediate problems but also paves the way for sustainable, long-term success.

Combining ahead of the storm

Erica Pritchard brought an exceptional blend of technical expertise and creative insight to Blue Sky Botanics. With a background in soft drink manufacturing, product development & microbiology she applies her technical skills to design and produce great-tasting, safe & effective products.

Erica’s understanding of extraction science & botanical functionality —both internally and topically—has proved invaluable, making her contributions essential to the development of both our beverage and cosmetic lines.

Her clever & innovative approach continues to drive quality and safety across the business.

Our Founders Words:

Blue Sky Botanics was founded on some fundamental ethical principles that were based on the founders’ personal experiences.

My experience working in third world economics in the 1960’s highlighted the importance of fair and sustainable trading. Emma has had a lifelong interest and commitment to protecting and managing habitats to increase biodiversity and Caroline’s experience working for companies that had lost sight of the individual and thereby wasted their most precious resource. So we have always been, and always will be, focused on respecting people as individuals, trading fairly and supporting ecosystems in agriculture which provides most of our raw materials.

We need to be better at communicating these principles. It is not as easy as you might think to work on summing up all of our hard work and values in a sentence or two!
